Google Play revenue dashboard from your Play Console sales reports

Invite a service account to Play Console and Sumly reads the monthly sales reports Google keeps for your app: every order, renewal and refund, next to your other revenue.

What Sumly reads

  • Every order, renewal and refund in the sales reports, three years back at first
  • Subscriptions from their first order and the renewals that follow it
  • The buyer's country and currency, without tax

Good to know

  • Google posts a day's orders within a few days, so the newest days fill in late.
  • The reports show no fees; Sumly takes off 15%, Google's rate for subscriptions and for the first $1M a year of other sales.
  • The reports name no buyer, so Google Play payments are not traced to visits yet. Free trials show once they are paid.

Connect Google Play in a few minutes

  1. 1In Google Cloud: create a service account (it needs no roles) and add a JSON key to it.
  2. 2In Play Console: Users and permissions → Invite new users, with the service account's e-mail and View financial data for the whole account.
  3. 3In Play Console: Download reports → Financial → Copy Cloud Storage URI. The bucket ID is the part that starts with pubsite_prod_rev_.
  4. 4Paste the JSON key, the bucket ID and the app's package name. A new service account can take up to a day before Google lets it read.

Trace each payment to its visit

Not yet: Google's sales reports carry no id of the buyer. Visits from Google Play still show with their install referrer campaign. How attribution works.

Questions

Why a service account and not a key?

Google keeps the reports in a Cloud Storage bucket of your developer account. A service account with View financial data may read that bucket and nothing else.

Does it see subscriptions bought before I connected?

Yes. The first read goes three years back through the monthly reports.
